These are the enthusiastic employees who make Azpiral the company it is today.

Richard Gubbins Since early childhood Richard always had a keen interest in business. Since obtaining an Economics degree, he finds the day to day business has been the real education. Each day Richard strives to build a company comprising of both product and people that aspires to exceed our customers’ expectations.

Kevin Nolan Is a founding Director of Azpiral with a passion for sales and new opportunities. Outside of work he is heavily involved in coaching kids Gaelic Football and Hurling in his local GAA Club in Waterford.

John Ryan Having qualified as a certified accountant, John worked for Wyeth Nutritionals, before setting up a consultancy firm. He is a founding director of Azpiral and also holds an Economics Diploma from the University of London.

Emma Wilson is a UL Economics graduate. She joined Azpiral as their marketing executive and is continuing her studies in digital marketing. In her spare time you’ll find her on a hockey pitch.

Caroline Duggan Caroline studied Business Studies and Marketing. After returning from a round the world trip she started with Azpiral in January 2007 and is the longest serving employee. Caroline loves shopping, eating out and rugby.

Anita Crosse Anita studied English Literature in UCC. After a year of travelling, she joined Azpiral in 2010 and works as an Account Manager. She loves travelling, eating out and supporting the Tipp hurlers.

Gerry O’Neill Joined the company in 2013 and is Azpiral’s Systems Integration Specialist. Studied Network Technologies at University of Limerick later in life after having previously worked in the manufacturing sector for over 15 years. Interested in travel, Hurling, Rugby and Golf.

Celina Redmond Before joining Azpiral, Celina spent 10 years working in Software Localisation with Pharmaceutical and Software companies. While not working Celina enjoys walking, swimming and the odd glass of red wine.

Katy Hogan Katy previously worked in customer service/internal sales for electronic component distribution companies. Returned to education and completed a degree in computer games development. Now working in the QA Dept.

Éanna Murphy Before joining Azpiral, Éanna worked for Dell, ComputaCenter & IBM. Éanna holds Post Graduate qualifications from UL, has recently been awarded a Master of Science from NUI Galway for his research into cloud computing and is completing a Batchelors of Science in Data Centre Management. Éanna is the proud father of 2 young girls and husband to the wonderful Tina.

Danny McArdle Danny is from Limerick where he studied Computer Science and Technology Commercialization. His been killing IT for 15 years. Hobbies include chasing his dogs Bear and Loki around mountain trails and playing football.

Maureen Collopy Maureen is a native from Limerick and studied Business & Marketing in Limerick Institute of Technology. After completing her degree Maureen took a year out and went travelling to Australia & Asia gaining her experience in various roles. She has since completed a Professional Diploma in Leadership and Management. Maureen loves nothing more than eating out, socializing, and travelling.

Pat Ryan Pat was born and raised in Limerick. He has qualifications in both Network and Software Systems and Multimedia and Web Development. Before Azpiral, he worked in Apple. He enjoys playing video games, travelling, watching TV series and socialising.

Azpiral EmployeeTieme Imamoto is Brazilian, graduated in IT and certified PMP. She used to work as Project manager and now works as QA Engineer. What does she love most in her life? Family!

Azpiral EmployeeShane Coughlan Shane has been working here since 2011 and been a software developer since 2013.  Soccer and Golf are his favourite sports. In his free time he likes watching movies, reading and the occasional drink in the pub 😉

Azpiral Employee Clara OSheaClara O’Shea Having joined the customer service team Clara brings a wealth of experience from previous roles. Her keen interest in all things social media means that she is very customer centric. At weekends you find her supporting her daughter in all things sporting.

Aidan Kinane Aidan is from Tipperary and believes ‘Don’t worry if it doesn’t work right first time. If everything did, we’d all be out of a job.

Aileen Crawford Aileen is from Limerick and previously worked in Dublin, London, Sydney and Melbourne. She studied at University of Limerick. In her spare time she enjoys supporting Limerick hurling, travelling and time with her family.

Azpiral EmployeeKaryn O’Doherty is a native of Limerick. She has worked in the IT Development Industry for 19 years. She studied Computer Engineering & Applied Maths & Computing in UL. She is passionate about her family and dogs, and enjoys Tai chi, yoga, travel, shopping and is addicted to GOT and TWD.

Massimo Gullo Before Azpiral, Massimo worked for Apple Computers and Google, as a Support Engineer, Trainer and Product Specialist. Massimo has been in the IT industry for over 8 years.

Sylwia-Chrzan studied pedagogy in Poland. Since moving to Ireland she gained administration and reception experience. Sylwia is interested in healthy living and traveling. In her free time she likes to bake and spend time with her family.

Matthew Lyons Matthew is from Charleville, Co. Cork. He has worked in IT support since before windows XP. He is the house tech in the schoolyard theatre in Charleville where he spends his time climbing ladders to light plays. He is also afraid of heights.

James Hickey James studied Computer Systems at the University of Limerick. Since 2012 he’s worked in Technical Support, Quality Assurance and with the Development Team. Likes; driving, rugby, hurling, AFL and watching films.

Rajesh Abraham Rajesh completed a masters in computer application from India and started his IT career in 1997. He is passionate about Microsoft technologies, cricket & soccer. Watching films, documentaries and reading autobiographies are his hobbies.

Rob Abratowski Rob loves solving problems in SQL Server especially performance problems. He focuses on the creation process, working with programmers to build solutions.  He makes sure Azpiral databases are always on their feet and running fast.

Denise Coyle Joined the team many years ago having worked in previous customer service roles. Each day Denise strives for and her team to bring the best customer experience possible for our customers. Outside of work Denise likes nothing better than time with her 3 boys!!

Ruth Grant Ruth is originally from Limerick and has been working in Software QA for over 10 years with a large focus on the Loyalty industry. In her spare time you will find her in a Crossfit gym throwing a barbell around and finishing it all off with an ice cold Gin & Tonic.

Edgar Jastre is Brazilian, graduated in IT and certified Microsoft .NET and Xamarin Mobile. His favourite sport is surfing. In his free time he likes playing video games, watching movies and TV series..

Rachel McGloughlin is from offaly and studied in Limerick, she has been working in software development since 2003 and she likes crossfit in her spare time.

Kelsey DeWit Kelsey was born and raised in Michigan but loves living in Ireland. Trained as a Drama therapist in the UK, she brings plenty of experience in communication and customer service. She likes to spend her free time reading, doing theatre, and traveling.

The Azpiral timeline

2005

Payback Loyalty Systems is founded in March and product coding begins. In October we win our first customer.

2006

Payback adds five more customers and raises initial seed funding. The company continues to develop an early version of the product platform and completes integration to CBE ePOS system.

2007

Payback starts the year with five employees and selects Rackspace as its hosting partner. It continues to source early adopters and reaches 100+ stores. Payback completes integrations to other leading ePOS providers in the Irish retail grocery sector.

2008

Payback launches ePOS API allowing third party services including ePOS companies to integrate. The company reaches 250+ stores.

2009

Payback reaches 450+ stores and completes integrations to CES, Datasym and Western ePOS.

2010

The company continues to grow and now reaches 650+ stores. Payback now has 10 employees.

2011

Payback wins the Cara Pharmacy Group contract and completes integration to leading ePOS providers in the pharmacy sector.
The company wins the Eurospar ‘Supereasy Rewards’ contract, which is later extended to the wider BWG Group.

2012

Payback wins the ‘Play or Park’ loyalty program contract for Topaz and completes integration to Sagepay, NCR and Codas. The company now employs 14 and is able to raise investment from private EIIS placement.

2013

Payback launches ‘Play or Park’ Loyalty program for Topaz and receives employment grant funding from Enterprise Ireland to increase employment numbers from 14 to 28.

2014

The ‘Play or Park’ Loyalty program wins and international loyalty award and is shortlisted for the Irish Software Association awards. Payback raises investment from BDO/Davy EIIS Fund and Enterprise Ireland.

2015

Payback sets it sights on significant export potential and completes integration to Tokheim FuelPoS. The company announces a plan to double its workforce from 28 to 56 people.

2016

Payback Loyalty rebrands to Azpiral. AzpiralPRO is now used by 2,000+ stores with a database of more than 2.5 million customers.

2017

Azpiral processes 200m customer interactions. Our customers TotalHealth pharmacy sign 100,000 customers to their loyalty program, and Circle K makes waves with their Cash for Clubs campaign using Azpiral software.

2018

Azpiral earns ISO/IEC 27001 accreditation. Preparations begin for an infrastructural move to Microsoft Azure. Barista bar loyalty launches in 340 stores. The company wins include Glanbia and Kepak.

2019

Azpiral successfully completes a huge infrastructural move to Microsoft Azure, making it a cloud-based software that can support systems seamlessly across the world. New offices open in Limerick. Project wins include Avia Netherlands and Gulf Oil UK.
